Reading the book M-factor this weekend at the suggestion of one of my clients. He heard one of the founders speak and was very impressed with the insights it provided to him as a CEO – and as a father of a ‘cusper’ and a Millennial. Me – a solid GenXer raised by Traditionalists and raising 2 Millennials – I see the issues in the workplace – and between my kids and their peers with ‘helicopter’ parents. Yes – I am ‘forcing’ my kid to earn her own money to purchase her first car – and ‘forcing’ her to get her own license by not driving her around – and NO – I am NOT doing her homework for her. Amazing that my kid is grading me against her friends parents.
Entitlement?? Wow – learned a lot about the conversation and how it plays out in the workplace. What?? You mean Millenial parents are calling their bosses to ask why they didn’t get a raise?? And companies are now creating recruiting packets for parents and paying kids to take a year off before they come to work. I don’t know folks, there is so much great talent out there, I’m pretty clear that I’m not interested in parenting my employees or their parents.
